About Appletree Montessori

Dear Parents,
It is with great pleasure that I introduce you to Appltree Montessori School. The first "Appletree" school opened in 1979 when my grandparents opened a preschool and Kindergarten on Blake Lane located in Fairfax, VA. The school and its waiting list quickly grew, so in 1985 Appletree II was born. Since my mother, Annely Carver, is the Director and Owner of Appletree II, I "grew up" in the Appletree Schools and spent many years working in the preschool environment.
In 2008, I discovered the teachings of Maria Montessori and obtained my American Montessori Society (AMS) Certification from the Northern Virginia Montessori Institute, while also interning at the Montessori School of McLean. After graduating in 2009, I moved to Denver, CO and taught at a wonderful Montessori school in Golden, CO for 3 years. I returned to NOVA in the Summer of 2012 and worked at a Montessori school in Reston through the following year.
Having come full circle, I am excited to introduce you to our newly created Montessori environment right here in Fairfax, VA! We opened our doors in September 2013.
Surrounded by tall oak trees, floor-to-ceilling windows and sounds of nature, your child will have the opportunity to learn in a peaceful and inspiring environment. We are conveniently located on Arlington Boulevard near Fairfax and Vienna.
I look forward to meeting you and sharing how Appletree Montessori School will open the doors to a wonderful world of creativity and learning for your child.
Sincerely,
Thea W. Meinen, Director
Denver ("Denny"), a goldendoodle, resides at 8809 Arlington Blvd. He is very friendly and is a low to non/shedding dog. He will occasionally spend time with the students at Appletree Montessori. He has his own file, and is current with all his shots and health records. We are also delighted with our aquarium, which hosts beautiful plants & fish, as well as soothing sounds to listen to at rest time!
